Eleanor Brent-Dyer vs. Enid Blyton

Thank you for being the first visitors to my blog, ladies, and leaving such fabulous comments! This blogging thing is such a lark.

Chloe, I'm impressed and inspired by your indepth Chalet School knowledge! Here's a trivia quiz I've just thought up about Malory Towers. (Oh Lord, I'm meant to be calling nutritionists for a feature on superfoods - but it'll have to wait!)

First person to answer it correctly wins...a lot of prestige. (Please someone have a go, I will be mortified if noone tries it!)

1. What were the names of the two French teachers, and which was nice and which severe? (2 points - one for correctly identifying each)
2. Darrell boarded in which of the four towers?
3. What was the name and nickname of the horsiest girl in the school? (2 points)
4. Why did Gwendolyn fall out with her father in Last Term at Malory Towers?
5. Which university did Darrell and Sally go to after Malory Towers?
6. What was so special about the school's swimming pool?

Comments:
Good god Olivia! I can't remember all that. I thought I would be able to but all I seem to be able to dredge up are vague memories of midnight feasts and tinned spam. I loved those books so much as a kid and also the Magic Faraway Tree.

What were the names of the two French teachers, and which was nice and which severe?

du pont and...er, can't remember. dupont was sahort, fat and nice!

2. Darrell boarded in which of the four towers?

3. What was the name and nickname of the horsiest girl in the school? (2 points)
Bill! she had 8 brothers and a crush on miss peters!

4. Why did Gwendolyn fall out with her father in Last Term at Malory Towers?
he told her he would not pay for her to go to finishing school and she had to get a job.

5. Which university did Darrell and Sally go to after Malory Towers?
st andrews

6. What was so special about the school's swimming pool?
it was a rock pool.

oh this is fab, i love EB!

Go Kelly! I make that 8/10. Still need the name of the severe French teacher, and Bill's official name (Bill was her nickname!)

ooooh blimey, i can't give up on this! was bill really wilhamenia? can i score a point for her rescuing "I will be an opera singer" mavis from the rain?!!?
still can't think of the other Madam and will not cheat!

Wilhemina is correct! Neighhhh! Yes, I do think you get five bonus points for rescuing Mavis!

Now does anyone know the other Madame?

Mamzelle Rougier was the mean French teacher. And I can also tell you that Miss Potts was the headmistress of North Tower and that Belinda (friends with spirited but slightly spiteful Alicia) was very artistic and drew Gwendoline's scowls at frequent intervals.

Rhetorical Question: How did Bill (who regularly rode her horse to school at the beginning of term with her seven brothers) get her trunk to school?

Olivia if you like mysteries etc, you should try Paul Temple - fab old BBC radio plays where everything was spiffing, by Timothy!
Here's a link to a fansite. Very entertaining.
